About Me

Information

I am a college student with a strong background in computers and audio/visual equipment. I put a lot of effort into the novel you see below, so I would appreciate it if you read it (but really, I will not be offended if you don't).

Actually, "the novel" is just a good insight to my background and interests. This section you're reading right now will eventually be a shorter version which will more than likely be laced with humor, fun facts, and odd anectdotes. To be completed soon...

Good Story...

Fueling my interests in computers with a course in web design in high school, I was able to explore many of my self-taught knowledge of HTML, CSS, and PHP/MySQL through clientele in the district. While enrolled in the course and, for subsequent years, student-aiding, I developed the high school athletics' website and eventually the entire high school website.

Gaining experience in the hardware side of computer systems, I acquired a Student Internship position aiding with technical support and computer/printer maintenance. While holding this position, most computers I worked on were iMacs and iBooks before the school switched to Dell/PCs with Windows® XP Professional my senior year.

As a hobby, I worked in my high school's theatre department on Sound Crew. There, I had the privelige of working on the plays Dearly Departed and The Diary of Anne Frank, and the musicals 42nd Street and Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The theatre was also used for choir performances and outside vendors for whom I would also occasionally run the audio or lights for.

My summer after high school, I accepted a job for an Audio Visual and Computer Rental company. Considerably my first employed job, I shifted my audio/visual experience from a personal and isolated environment to a corporate one. Traveling to convention centers and hotels from Chicago, IL to Atlanta, GA, I quickly learned to adapt to new surroundings and to engage not only our clients, but their customers as well. My services included the set-up and support of Projectors and Screens, Plasma Displays, Sound Systems, Laptop and Desktop PCs, and Printers.

In the Fall of 2007, I began my first semester at Miami University of Oxford, OH. As an undergraduate, I am working towards my Bachelors in Computer Science, and toward my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Between my Freshman and Sophomore year, I participated in part one of Platoon Leaders Course at Quantico, VA before accepting my scholarship into the NROTC program.

Taking Computer Science for two years in high school gave me the opportunity to test out of two programming courses at Miami. Some of the major coures I have taken as of Spring 2009 are as follows (in chronological order): Computing, Engineering & Society, Data Abstraction & Data Structures, Computer Architecture, Database Systems, Data Communications & Networking, Applied Software Engineering, and Algorithms.

My other strong hobby is Classical Guitar, which I have been playing for nearly six years. I also enjoy watching television, laughing at bad jokes (many of which are my own), and playing board games. I also fancy photography, kittens, comedy central, and fine Italian cuisine. If I could spend my life doing anything, it would be traveling to places I have been before, and places I have not. I have traveled across the world through Europe and the Mediterranean, and to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
